I’d like a ghost for a boyfriend…I wouldn’t have to pick his socks up off the floor

Sure, I’d like a ghost for a boyfriend – no picking up dirty clothes or worrying about which way the toilet paper should face. But what does this have to do with anything? Well…back in November I participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and found myself with half a novel. Now after lots and lots of hard work, I’m almost there.

My revisions have gone back to my editor for one last look and then once I make those changes I’m ready for formatting and uploading. My cover is complete and I wanted to share it. I think it came out beautifully – the cover designer did a fantastic job.

I’m hoping to have it available on Amazon in April. Then on all other eReader sites. I’ll also be adding a paperback version and an audiobook version. So while the editor is doing her thing I’ll be working on book 2. Once the first book is live I’ll follow-up and let ya’ll know. For a modern-day ghost story read on…

Lost in ShadowWe were wrong…ghosts are frighteningly real. For centuries a war has been raging between light and shadow…Shadow Walker pitted against Day Walker, threatening to plunge the world into darkness. Colin, an ancient warrior who lost hope long ago, prowls the streets of Edinburgh, eviscerating those who prey on humanity.

Emily possesses the ability to see beyond our realm into the dangerous realms of Light and Shadow. Unwittingly drawn into the shadows when she intervenes to help Colin, igniting his long-buried desires, she unleashes a deadly curse. Now with a week to break the curse, time is running out as they are locked in a deadly fight with forces that will stop at nothing to destroy them before they succeed.

Intensely romantic and thrilling, Lost in Shadow portrays the struggle between redemption and retribution.

Fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Charlene Harris, and Jacquelyn Frank will devour this series.

Cheers!

Debut Book – Shadow Dance – Coming Soon

I’ve been working on my first novel. NaNoWriMo really helped me with my productivity. It’s been a journey and I can hardly describe the joy I felt in writing “the end”.Shadow Dance Website Size 72 dpi 600 x 900

Book One – Shadow Dance is now complete and in the revision phase. I hope to have it available in February 2013. I’ll update everyone when it goes live. It’s a dark, edgy, paranormal romance and it’s going to be a series. I’ve got the ideas for the next several books. I’ll start on book two as soon as the edit process is complete on book one.

Shadow Dance  – Ghosts are not the gauzy white shapes, harmlessly floating around us as we’ve been led to believe – they are ancient warriors with the power to drain a human’s energy, instantly aging and killing them. A war has been brewing for centuries between light and shadow…shadow walker pitted against day walker, threatening to send the world into darkness, unless the shadow walkers save humanity before time runs out.

This is Colin’s story – Prowling the streets of Edinburgh, watching over, protecting humanity, Colin was a ghost – immortal – a deadly, lethal, predator reveling in eviscerating those who preyed on humanity. Losing hope centuries ago for a chance at redemption, he embraced the Shadow Walker life – until he crosses paths with Emily who changes his fate, intervening to save his life, igniting his long-buried desires. With a week to break the curse before Colin turns wraith, lost to darkness for eternity…time is running out as they are locked in a deadly fight with forces who will stop at nothing to destroy them before they succeed.

What are you working on? It doesn’t have to be a book – a new decorating project, craft, etc. How do you stay motivated?

Cheers!

It’s November 15th – How’s your writing coming along for NaNoWriMo?

Well, we’ve hit the middle of November. If you’re like me, you’re tired – the good kind of tired when you’re accomplishing your goals. You feel good even if some days are tough; you look at how far you’ve come and smile…

If you aren’t where you want to be at this point, no worries. Take a deep breath, think about what you want to achieve and where your story is going. Not sure? Try playing “what if”, introduce a new character, watch the news for an interesting story, talk to one of your writing buddies or take a little time to do something else – catch a movie, have lunch with a friend. Then come back with your creative well refilled and work. You can make the goal with half the month remaining – believe in yourself!

As promised, my mid-month update. As of tonight, I have written a little over 35K words. Whew! makes me tired just looking at it. I’ve had a couple of tough days but powered through. I’ve also had some great days where I was in the groove and the words just seemed to endlessly flow. Well, I have a little under 15K to go and I’m shooting to finish this draft on 11/22. Then I’ll leave it, start on book 2 and see how far I get with the remaining 9 days in the month.

So stay tuned and I’ll follow-up at the end of the month with my final word count.

Wish me luck!

New Beginnings

I am spending all waking moments working on my first fiction novel – pssst, it’s about ghosts.

While I’m writing and you’re waiting, I want to share some of my favorite quotes – not sure where I got them but they are appropriate in so many situations in life.

My current mantra – Writing every day can be a powerful action, a gesture of belief in one’s own imagination.

When you do what you love, the Universe conspires on your behalf.

Even if things aren’t working out the way you’d like at the moment, the law of karma says that the positive effort you make now will inevitably come to fruition.

You’ve got to decide if you really want it bade enough. Once you know it’s something you really want, then you’ve got to be 100% committed.

Here’s the truth: people who get what they want tend to be the ones who make the effort to know what they want.

When you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the center of every constellation, and people want to be near you.

Here’s to the Universe!
